Barcamp Ottawa in Citizen Tech-Weekly

by alec on April 27, 2006

The Ottawa Citizen’s Peter Hum lurked around BarCamp for the whole day, with a photographer in tow.  Today’s Citizen Tech Weekly is a BarCamp extravaganza.  The front cover is loaded with photos, which you can see here, and pages 3 and 4 are one huge Barcamp story.  Unfortunately, there is no online edition of the story, so run out and grab yourself a copy of the paper.

Open Source and Business Issues

by alec on April 22, 2006

I was very pleased to be able to have a joint session with Tom Marlay of Gowlings on Open Source, and Business.  The session was well attended, and was a quick overview of open source issues.  For my part, I covered mostly the issues in this story which I wrote some time ago.  Tom covered the details of specific risks, and license agreements from a legal point of view.  There was definitely an appetite to talk longer.

BarCamp Ottawa: 16 Days to Go

April 6, 2006

We had another organizers meeting this morning for BarCamp Ottawa.  The event seems to be coming together very well.   It’s looking like it will be a great event. The agenda, of course, will be very loose, as is generally the case with BarCamp events.  We will be getting together Friday night for a beer, just to [...]
