TV Guide Canada logoImage via Wikipedia

This morning we had Simon Steward of Vizimo on the show. Vizimo takes the TV guide to a whole new level, letting you find and manage programming via your TV, the internet, or your mobile phone. With it’s recommendation engine, it’s almost like having the Tivo guide on your phone.

If you watch TV, and who doesn’t, tune into this show.

Is video chat heating up?

by alec on August 7, 2008

Yesterday’s announcement by TokBox of a $10 million series B financing was yet another indication in my mind that the video chat market is on a roll.  Venture Beat reported the story and added the following commentary:

One catch, of course, is that anyone wanting to use TokBox for video chat needs a webcam, which many people still don’t have. But the bigger catch is that video chat, while great for getting some form of face time with those who live far away, doesn’t seem like a vital service.

Video cam’s are nearly ubiqitous these days.  Try to buy a consumer laptop without one.

And as for “vital”, that’s a matter of opinion.  Ask Peter Csathy, who runs TokBox competitor Sightspeed, how he manages his day.  It’s spent in front of Sightspeed talking to his team who are located two hours away from his Southern California office.

Desktop video is here, and it’s growing.
