Tuesday night, Skype 4.0 Beta for Windows launched.  A brand new user interface, and a heavy emphasis on video are the key changes.  This morning, Skype Director of Product Management Mike Bartlett joined us from London.

We started with the obvious, which is that this is a huge change.  The UI is very different, and some of those changes — like the conversation list — are really very helpful.  Mike gave us an overview of the objectives behind those changes, and then went on to discuss everything ranging from codecs, to development frameworks, platforms and mobility.

Enjoy the conversation.  We certainly did!

On the call: Mike Bartlett, Jim Courtney, Brad Jones, Ragui Kamel, Mark Hewitt, Jeb Brilliant, Ian Hood, Bill Volk, Carsten Helmuth, James Body, Phil Wolff, Jonathan Jensen, Frank Abrams, Vincent Oberle, and David Beckemeyer
