It's day 2 of the Canadian Institute Social Media conference.  It's a fascinating group of attendees and presenters, mostly drawn from some very large Canadian organizations – government agencies, banks, and media companies.  I'm pretty sure that I represent the smallest organization in the room.

The presentations are pretty interesting.  Yesterday's presentation from Yahoo's Hunter Madsen was about the breadth of ways that Yahoo is using social media.  Dynamite stuff.  Today the Bank of Nova Scotia's Michael Seaton presented MyVault - their social networking and financial advice site.  And right now, Yahoo's Geoff Ramey is talking about using social media for recruiting.

It's super cool to see the ways that social media is being used by these companies.  I wonder how my little presentation on creating thought leadership positions with blogs will be received in this environment?  Does the Government of Canada need a thought leadership campaign? (no… that's not a rhetorical question!)
