PC Upgrade Kit – the best of both worlds

by alec on November 5, 2007

Concerned about compatibility issues and upgrading to Windows Vista?  PC Upgrade Kit might be just the ticket.  Rather than upgrade in place, as the Microsoft Vista upgrade does, it creates a clean partition and installs a clean copy of Windows Vista, along side your existing Windows XP system.  Then it migrates software from XP to Vista that are known to be compatible with Vista, leaving you with a dual boot system.  The advantage to you?

  1. You can continue to use your older software and devices which work just fine with Windows XP.
  2. You get to migrate to Vista, but leave behind the fat, bloated, and potentially corrupted XP registry you have on your old PC.

It's the best of both worlds — a clean install and an upgrade, in one package.
