Thanks Larry! I think that it does, in many cases, boil down to personal preference. My wife couldn't stand the phonegnome voice mail, for instance, so I had to turn it off. Best, A

I am a relatively new VoIP user with a business and technology background. I have been put-off by the inconsistency of QoS in pure VoIP. However one of the things your blog has taught me is that you can enjoy many of the benefits of VoIP while retaining the better voice quality of a PSTN line. I am referring to click-to-calls. Hullo, in particular, offers great voice quality. I also bought phonegnome a while back based on your recommendation.

However I've stopped using phonegnome. I liked the concept of reducing my Bell bill to just dial-tone. I also like the promise of more and better features at an attractive price. However I'm not using any of them right now. Some of this is discovering I prefer the Bell version of some features like voicemail. Other features like follow-me are available on other services like Hullo. I would like to try Iotum but have not got a recent enough version of Outlook.

My point is that phonegnome's value proposition has turned out to be a bust. It is not phonegnome's fault. It comes down to personal preference on my part. I just wish I could have discovered I was not a good candidate before spending the money to buy the product.

BTW, I enjoy your blog and have learned a lot. All the best, Larry
