Congratulations Digium!

Congratulations are due to the Digium gang.  After months of speculation, Digium has landed $13.8 million in financing from Matrix Partners.  The company says the money will be used to finance growth, since they’re already profitable.

Perhaps the biggest winner in this will be Matrix Partners.  Digium’s decision to take financing when already profitable is eerily similar to Microsoft’s decision to take an investment from David Marquardt in 1981, prior to their 1986 IPO.  Marquardt’s gamble payed off handsomely.
