And in Ottawa Tech News…

by alec on July 13, 2006

A couple of notable events for the Ottawa tech crowd:

  1. At the Bytown Tavern on Friday night (I guess that’s tomorrow!), Shopify will be having their launch party.   For those who don’t know Shopify, they’re getting recognition for their commerce platform all over the web.  Promises to be a good event, and you can even hobnob with city councillor Alex Munter.
  2. Next Wednesday, July 19th, there’ll be another blogger meetup at the Clock Tower Pub on Bank Street. If you don’t know the Clock Tower, they have great food, and they brew excellent beer.

It’s unlikely I’ll be able to make either event myself, but there will certainly be lots of interesting people out.

A double-decade veteran of product management and marketing, he spent nine years at Microsoft where he helped launch Windows 95, the first two versions of Internet Explorer, the Universal Plug and Play initiative, the push into home markets, opt-in email marketing and what might well go down in history as the very first direct email list ever.
