Day 1 of CES was exhausting. Tried and failed to get into the Gates keynote last night — too many people. Today, criss-crossed the haul looking for new technologies. In VoIP, the big thing seems to be multi-handset / multi-line cordless phones with an ATA added to the base station. Good strategy on the part of the handset manufacturers to extend the life of their product lines, but ultimately a very short term stepping stone strategy.
I also saw a lot of blue-tooth devices (mostly headsets, but a few keyboards and others), and a ton of home networked gear –> storage servers, cameras and so on.
Haven’t seen anything yet that’s incredibly novel, or innovative, though. Just much needed refinements of previous ideas.
