Rogers has completed their acquisition of Microcell (a.k.a. Fido).  Both companies have posted FAQs on their websites.  Net net: the services and brands will remain separate, but the size of the overall network increases.  Occasionally, as a Rogers customer, you might find yourself roaming onto the Microcell network and vice versa.

PMC Sierra Chipsets

Interesting tidbit on the newswire this morning — PMC Sierra has announced a series of VoIP multi-service chipsets.  The highest powered device in that announcement was the MSP5000, described as a "MIPS-Powered multi-service processor, 1-16 voice channels, 2 DSP cores, VPN security engine, 2×10/100 Ethernet MAC".  The stated use was for a small enterprise IAD [...]
