Cline 1999

It’s Janice’s birthday, and we’re on our second bottle of wine!  I dug the last bottle of Cline’s 1999 Old Vines Carignane out of my cellar. (Here’s a link to the 2001) The last time I tasted this wine, two years ago, it was overpoweringly bitter.  Wow!  What a difference time makes.  On the nose, vanilla, and a little alcohol heat.  It comes through as a bit of clovy spice.  On the tongue, a blast of fruit, chocolate, and orange peel.  Long, long, slightly tannic vanilla finish.
