Is 27% credible?    [9:58:58 PM]

VoIP penetration to hit 27% worldwide by the end of 2008.

I think Chris Hartman, as smart as she is, is overstating the case for VoIP penetration.  I’ve seen figures as high as 19 million deployments by 2007, but that’s a far cry from 27% penetration by 2008.

Not yet at the tipping point    [7:33:46 PM]

Tipping Point? Not Yet.   Great post from Andy Abramson on the potential for VoIP.  I have to wonder about the last point though… a 16 year old Zinfandel is surely past it’s prime…

Me. I’m staying on hooked on Ridge Geyserville, vintage 1988, like I drank last night. I know what’s in that bottle, and while it has a purple color, it’s sure not Kool Aid.

Brilliant Marketing    [8:43:31 PM] Whatever your political leaning, you have to admire this effort.  The production cost for this video is negligible.  The impact could be massive.  It portrays Rumsfeld in as unflattering a light as possible, and invites you to forward the video to your friends.  Someone is making use of the propensity [...]

Taking a deep breath    [6:02:22 PM] Today I cut the umbilical cord.  Six months ago I sat Bob Mimeault of Versatel Networks down in a restaurant and told him that I was working on a startup. Bob was terrific.  He told me that he still needed me, but also committed to help me get my company started. Today was my last day [...]

Scoble drinks the Koolaid    [10:14:53 PM] Robert Scoble in My thoughts on the EU decision. It’s worth a read.  Personally, I had the exact same experience.  A headhunter talked me into taking a job with MSFT.  He told me they wanted me, and that in 18 months time he would be able to place me [...]

VoIP: the new tornado    [9:23:28 PM] In Why defend the bell system? Om Malik writes: “the economics of the computer industry have finally come to the telecom business”.  It’s been coming for some time, of course.  Versatel Networks, where I have been the VP of marketing for the last 18 months, ships a product which is [...]

The Day That Cellular Died    [8:55:28 PM] How Canada’s WiFi carriers learned to share. The nail in the coffin for conventional cellular?  Certainly if VoIP takes off. VoIP over WiFi works great.  I use the Xten client on my WiFi PC all the time.
