Bouchard Finlayson 1998 Kaaimansgat Chardonnay

Kaaimansgat is a South African chardonnay that I picked up a little over a year ago at the LCBO for about $18.  Superb value.  This is an elegant bottle of wine.  Honeyed, peachy, almost floral, nose.  On the tongue a terrific blend of apple, slight citrus, and honey. There’s a hint of oak, but it’s not overpowering.   Long buttery finish.  Although it’s a "new world" chardonnay, it’s much closer to a French style than Californian or Australian.

I’d buy this again.  For my money, it’s stiff competition for many bottles at twice the price.
