Unite the Right: Not Gonna Happen

by alec on August 27, 2002

I’ve been watching the Unite the Right debate in Canada for some time. It won’t ever happen, because the parties are so different.  The idealogues of the Canadian Alliance will never compromise ("it’s particularly difficult for Stephen to compromise", says Jim Hawkes), and the Progressive Conservatives simply don’t want what the Alliance feels are basic principles.  It’s time to reject the alliance idealogy, and get on with the business of building a credible conservative opposition in Canada.
